Cherokee, North Carolina lays south of Smoky Mountain National Park. This area has a more early american feel, a slower pace than the Gatlinburg area. The Eastern Band of Cherokee Tribal Council approved a large budget for expansion for Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Hotel, a multi-millon dollar project.
